MEET OUR 2021 STAFF
Justin Samuels has worked with numerous south Florida ensembles. Justin started his DCI experience in 2004 with the Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps. He then joined the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps in 2006, aging out in 2010. Samuels began his WGI experience as a part of the visual team for Stryke Percussion in the 2014-15 seasons. Justin worked as the visual caption head for the Falcon Sound Percussion at Flanagan HS in 2014-15. Then with SP2 as the visual caption head in 2016-17. In 2017 he also worked as a member of the Infinity Percussion visual staff. Justin has recently served as choreographer for the Park Vista HS Indoor. He has been involved in the winds circuit since its inception.
Starting with Stryke Wynds during the 2015-18, seasons as a choreographer and instructor. Justin returned to the ensemble as the visual designer in 2019. He has been the visual designer for Flanagan Winds during the 2016-19 seasons. Along with Cooper City Winds in 2019. In the outdoor realm, Samuels has served as visual caption head, and choreographer for the Flanagan HS Marching Band from 2015-18. As choreographer for the Park Vista HS Marching Band during the 2016-17 seasons. As well as visual caption head, and choreographer for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS Marching Band in 2017-18. Also, Justin has recently began working as visual caption head, and choreographer for the Cooper City HS Marching Band in 2018. In addition, he has been an adjudicator in the FMBC circuit since 2017.
Music Composer/Arranger; Design Consultant
Mr. Robert A. Rivero is the owner and founder of Rivero Music Design. In addition to Composing and Arranging music full-time, he currently holds the position of Associate Director of Bands at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, in Parkland, FL. He was born and raised in Miami, Florida and studied Music Composition for Film and Television at the Berklee College of Music.
Mr. Rivero began arranging and composing music at the age of 14. In 2015, Mr. Rivero’s writing career kicked off with ensembles premiering his Original and Arranged works. Since then, he has had the opportunity to work with several competitive Marching Band Programs and Indoor Winds Ensembles across the country as a Music Arranger, Design Consultant and Music Caption Head/Consultant. Many of these programs have been WGI & BOA Regional Finalists under the Instruction or Design of Mr. Rivero.
Prior to his appointment as Associate Director of Bands at Marjory Stoneman Douglas H.S., Mr. Rivero managed a Private Music Lesson Studio, where several of his students were selected for the Florida All-State Bands, as well as a number of Drum Corps and Honor Bands throughout the State and Country. In addition, Mr. Rivero was the Director and Music Arranger for The Flanagan Falcon Sound Marching Band as well as the Director, Founder and Music Arranger for the WGI Scholastic World Class Winds Ensemble, Flanagan Winds. Their accomplishments over the past several years include 2016 WSO Silver Medalist, 2017 WSO Silver Medalist, 2018 WSW Gold Medalist, and 2019 WSW Silver Medalist. Since 2017, Mr. Rivero has also worked with STRYKE Wynds; an Independent World Class Winds Ensemble from Davie, Florida. Mr. Rivero served in the roles of Music Consultant (2017, 2018), and Music Arranger & Caption Head (2019, 2020).
In addition to Mr. Rivero’s musical experience and accolades, he proudly served our country in the U.S. Army as a member of the 13th Army Band. From 2013-19, he was the Principal Trumpet in all ensembles, the Musical Director of the Jazz Ensemble, as well as a Music Arranger for the Band. Mr. Rivero was also an Active Duty member of the South Florida Army Honor Guard where he performed Military Funeral Honors for over 1,500 deceased veterans.
Mr. Rivero prides himself on his commitment to creating life-changing experiences for students of the performing arts.

Mr. Michael Delgado started his musical training on flute at Ruben Dario Middle School. Mr. Delgado continued his music education at Miami Coral Park H.S under the direction of Dr. Michael B. Dressman and Mr. Jason Noble. During his tenure at Miami Coral Park HS, Mr. Delgado performed in prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City and was also selected to perform in the Sydney Opera House in Australia. Mr. Delgado picked up the tuba as a hobby in 2001 and became very knowledgeable on the instrument. Soon after learning tuba, he toured North America and Canada playing contra with the Kiwanis Kavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps of Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada (2003-04). Then spent the following two seasons touring the United States and Europe with the DCI World Finalists Glassmen of Toledo, Ohio (2005-06). Mr. Delgado’s collegiate experience includes performing 3 seasons with Florida International University’s Golden Panther Marching Band (2003-05). Mr. Delgado continues to be very active in the marching arts activity and in music education.
Most recently Mr. Delgado has worked with: Miami Killian H.S., G. Holmes Braddock H.S 1A FMBC finalists, West Boca H.S FMBC 1st Runner-up Class 4A, Hialeah Senior H.S and Miami Senior H.S 08-10 FMBC 2nd Runner-up Class 1A, and Miami Coral Park H.S 2006, 2011-16 ,2011 Class 2A State Champion and Cooper City H.S. Flanagan Winds WGI 2018 WSW Gold medalist and the WGI 2019 WSW Silver medalist. Mr. Delgado has also been the Visual instructor at FIU Indoor World Winds since the 2015. While at FIU, the ensemble has been WGI 2015 WIO champion, WIA 2016 champions, 2017 WIW Bronze medalist, 2018 WIW Fan Favorite. In 2019 took over the role as the new Visual Coordinator for the ensemble. Mr. Delgado is extremely excited to be returning for his 6th season with FIU indoor winds and as the visual coordinator.
Larkin Sharpe has been the Director of Bands at Hialeah High School since May of 2017. His musical career began in his upbringing in Broward County. He attended Walter C. Young Middle School under the direction of Kimberly Annis and Charles W. Flanagan High School under the direction Steve Rivero. Mr. Sharpe received his Bachelor's of Music Education from Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. Here, he served in ensembles like the University Symphonic Band, Saxophone Quartet, and Pep Band. He also served as a collegiate member of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, Xi Nu Chapter.
Some of Mr. Sharpe's other experiences include performing in the JINSHA Summer Music Festival in Chengdu, China; serving as a Drum Major with the Carolina Crown Drum & Bugle Corps for two years, receiving a silver and gold medal at the DCI World Championships; and was a participating conductor in the Maestros Summer Conducting Symposium led by Steve Rivero and Dr. Robert Carnochan.
Adam has been teaching in the South Florida area since 2013. He got his start in the marching arts playing trumpet with the Stoneman Douglas high school marching band. Adam continued his career on the field and marched for three years with the world renowned DCI performing ensemble, The Cadets. After aging out, Adam decided to direct his knowledge and experience towards teaching visual and writing drill. He taught at his alma mater, Stoneman Douglas, for two years, along with many other successful south Florida bands, including Flanagan high school. Adam’s success carried over to WGI indoor where he won gold and silver medals with Stryke Percussion II, Flanagan Winds and Stryke Wynds. Adam now oversees the visual caption at Heat Wave Drum and Bugle Corps.
In his most recent work, Adam has been writing and designing marching band and winter percussion shows for high school programs across the country since the fall of 2017.
Joshua Guzman is a Saxophone player from Miami, Florida. Joshua Started his music education at Centennial Middle School, continuing his education at Hialeah Gardens high School under the direction of Raphael Napoles. During his tenure at Hialeah Gardens high School Joshua was introduced to the !3th Army Band where Mr. Napoles was the Assistant Conductor at the time. This inspired him to join the army and serve his country the best way he knew possible, playing his saxophone. Joshua started his Education at Florida International University majoring in Music Education.
At FIU, Joshua performs in various ensembles including the FIU Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Saxophone Quartet, Reed Quintet, as well as other ensembles. Joshua has taught at programs across South Florida including: Cypress Bay High School, Cooper City High School, Charles W. Flanagan High School and FIU World Winds. He is very excited to continue his career with FIU World Winds this upcoming winter!
